History - In the 1930s Allen and Foster Kimball (from Littleton, Mass.) bought a fire damaged dairy farm in Pepperell, Mass. and quickly planted the land to apple and peach orchards. By the late 30's they needed extra help and Allen's
brother-in-law Harold Hills was hired.Although the farm struggled with
the up and down markets of fruit, it still survived. Foster was an
off-site owner and Allen was the on-site owner, but was cripple. Harold was
the main man in the growing and harvesting of the fruit. In 1969 Allen
died and Foster sold the farm to investors. Harold and his son Carl
leased the farm until 1999, when Carl purchased the property and
protected it with easements for eternity.
